The core of the Nike brand surrounds its passion for sports and the role it can play in life. Nike believes that sport just isn’t an action but a source of empowerment, and that every athlete should have the chance to reach their full potential. Nike’s theory is that sport can be used to positively encourage change and leadership, in which to challenge global issues and provide opportunities in all communities.

 

Nike is a strong philanthropic supporter and uses a number of sport- based community programs all over the world to provide youth with opportunities and promote positive change. One of Nike’s community programs is the “Let me play” program, along with the China Children and Teen Fund they provide teacher training, curriculum and sports equipment for physical education classes in low income schools in China.

 

The Nike Foundation is known for it works to support the Girl Effect – a program that improves the lives of adolescent girls. Nike believes that by investing in communities all over the globe it can use sport as a tool for social innovation and to inspire future generations.

 

Philanthropic Mission:

The power of sport can build valuable skills and unleash human potential. Nike believes in this and will invest at least $315 million in product donations and support to nonprofit organizations. Nike believes in corporate giving and creating opportunities through sport for social change.

 

Application Requirements:

 

Organizations must complete the following in order to be considered for a donation.

  • A description of the organization
  • Organization’s operating budget
  • Identification of funding sources
  • List of board members and staff
  • Financial statement and tax information

 

What we won’t do:

Nike does not support organizations that discriminate against a person or group due to age, race, politics, sexuality, gender, disability or religious belief.

 

Nike will not provide charitable support for:

  • Individuals or personal assistant
  • Individual sports teams
  • For profit venues
  • Religious groups or religious purposes
  • Campaigns or lobbying

 

Decision Making:

Eligible proposals are reviewed throughout the year and decisions are based on an appropriate fit with guidelines and funding availability.
